has held 12 titles since 2011 and has competed both nationally and internationally. After winning her first international title in 2019, she then won two more international titles consecutively.

She has spent her service years hosting and participating in numerous community service events and being a spokesperson for her platform, Promoting Diversity for the Study of World Languages & Cultures, and now #GetImmersed which is named after her business, Immersed Global, LLC. With her eco-initiative, The Reteach Project, Makeva has made it her mission to spread awareness of the effects of climate change to those in underserved communities.

With her initiatives, she’s reached over 1,000 individuals across Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Maryland by speaking in virtual classrooms, gardening groups, and youth environmental advocacy clubs. She has even been seen on billboards as the face of the 2018 Black Expo in Baton Rouge, La and in fashion shows throughout Louisiana, Maryland, New York and Virginia.
